The FIS TV 5 Step Cycle of Muscle Maintenance

A Proven Cycle of Muscle Health

The Five step process of Muscle Maintenance is a proven way to safely overcome injury, improve joint stability, build, and maintain your muscles.   This process is not meant to be linear, but cyclical.  Learning how to adapt to life's challenges and take care of our bodies is paramount.  Muscles are endocrine organs that communicate with our entire body.

Muscle strength begins to decline after 30 years of age, where we lose 3-8% per decade.

We will experience changes related to skeletal muscle shape, loss of muscle fibers, loss of contractile proteins, change in size and changes in electrical activity and it also continues to decrease progressively.

We must take an active role in our aging process in order to "slow down father time".  FIS TV is rooted in progressive resistance training, since our muscles need resistance.  In these 5 steps, we can safely progress load, joint stability, control, and other challenges. Start with the Prepare | Getting Started series to ASSESS your current range of motion, view FIS TV tutorials, practice foundational isometrics, and enjoy beginner-friendly workouts, to understand your body's needs on any given day.

Step 1. Activate | Joint Therapeutics:

The Activate Collection of videos is composed of isolated joint isometrics designed to activate muscle weaknesses that may show up as a tight or limited joint position.  These can be done as a warm-up, as a prehabilitation, or as a rehabilitation exercise.  Also enjoy joint-specific therapy routines to address muscle weakness and joint injury.

    Step 2. Integrate | Yoga:

The Integrate Collection of videos progresses single joint isometrics to isometrics with multiple joints working together at one time.  The focus of this collection is to balance muscular strength to address pain and tightness instead of using passive stretching to achieve a position.  Isometrics reduce inflammation, build muscle, lower blood pressure, and improve muscle contractions for greater flexibility.

    Step 3. Move | Pilates:

The Move Collection of videos is all about movement, with bodyweight Calisthenics to improve strength and control and Mobility workouts to explore our joint range of motion with concentric and eccentric muscle contractions.  Pilates workouts are also included in this  category, full of core-focused calisthenics to reduce the risk of injury with better postural alignment during movements.

Step 4. Amplify | Strength Training:

The Amplify Collection of videos emphasizes strength training for muscular development. Once we can control our body, we can progress to added load. Select workouts that train the upper body, lower body, core, and total body to help you build muscle and improve muscular balance across your joints.  Experience a variety of resistance training tools such as free weights, elastic bands, and other small props.

Step 5. Optimize | Fitness Fusion:

The Optimize Collection of videos includes a variety of workouts with added resistance challenges to enhance your exercise experience and help increase your muscular system's ability to tolerate greater stress.  These are some of the most interactive, fun, and challenging workouts on FIS TV.  Train for muscle endurance, strength, and responsiveness of muscle contractions with stability ball, barre, and HIIT training.
